First i should tell you about the Detroit Story and for me it was about the hugh Mega show with The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, And the Go Team who played a very Excenlent Show at the State Theater on Friday Night and i was lucky because ticket was sold out i think the day of the show, but it was a good show, i half was y thought writing a review of the show, and then after the show when up to the Stick Complex to see the Tale end of the Dials and SSM one year annuversier gig(there first gig was at the Garden Bowl), It was nice to Catch up with the girls from the Dials Who got away from Chicago and Lollpalzooa as far as possable, and did go to the Detroit Urban Craft Fair for a little bit on Saturday, Not a big Craft guy but Check it out.
And After that did nothing for the entire week end, did Typing and watching Lolly in the Blueroom. and doing a lot or working some post and Following the World Seriers of Poker on-line.(There olny 36 players left as of this typing)
but there was not some rock action in the Detroit area at the same time as that mega show at the state, The Detroit News did Semi-Final No.1 of the Sonic Summer: A BAttle of the bands as three Bands pefrom to the Judges Cobalt Party Revolution, Free Element, and Search Party all tried to impress the Judges which include Angelique Brown, owner of Take A Look Artistry; Maria Garcia, a promoter for Urban Organic, a Detroit soul/hip-hop music promotions company; and Ben Beverly, an artist development representative for EMI Records.
And After all three band played there was one winners and that band who is going on to the Big final gig on Sept. 1 on The Detroit News/Comcast stage at the Chrysler Arts, Beats & Eats festival in Pontiac is
The Five peice Band for Detroit rock City Free Element (Andrew Perry, vocals; Brian Carney, bass; Dan Rosenberg, guitar; Jake Bayer, drums; Randy Roberts, guitar)Accroing to today detroit News they won the Crowd with there similar to the modern pop punk fashioned by nationally known band Fall Out Boy, stole the show with the high-energy melody "Next to Me."
"I think that we came out and played like we wanted," said lead singer Andy Perry, 24. "We showed everyone what Free Element is about."
Final Band No.2 will be pick on Thursday at the Magic Bag(22920 Woodward Ave., Ferndale) as Detroit Classic rock and soul band Jive, Berkley Power popster The Prime Ministers, and Dearborn Pop/rock Sunday Painters will do battle for final spot Numbers two.

It not been a good weekend for begin a fan of Canadian indie music, First st the begin of the weekend Death From Above 1979 thur in the towel for the last time as they announced that Bassist Jesse F. Keeler and drummer Sebastien Grainger goes there separt ways that copled with the news from pitchforkmedia.com that the blues-punks band the Deadly Snakes have also call it a day.
"The main reason is that it's been like 10 years and...it's not fun like it used to be and it's not enough of a career to justify the lack of fun that we're having," Maxwell McCabe-Lokos aka Age of Danger said to the on-line Mag. "It's not excruciating by any stretch, but I think that we're all getting a little tired of going on tour and playing in Ozona, Texas for two or three people. Some people can do that until their eyes fall out.
"I think we went about as far as we could with this band...and we're all still friends and the main thing is that we were friends before, and we wanted to remain friends after, so we decided to call it a day.
There last show will be in Toronto on August 25 ay the Horseshoe Tavern, their last album, 2005's Porcella was is currently up for the Polaris Prize (Canada's version of the Mercury Prize), They may released a recording from the upcoming Horseshoe gig with some B-sides tossed in as there final released.
=========================================
And spaking about Break-up Last week Sleater-Kinney did play there Final ever Washington DC gig after there 48-hour delay from there secuald show was postphone becasuse of a blon Trasfromer cause by last week East coast Heat wave in the DC and Balitmore area, But Ted Leo did one up the girls last week according to several Pitchfork reader Ted Leo was playing Wednesday night at Baltimore's Ottobar, the power went out 3/4 of the way through Leo's set. one Reader Ira wrote in E-mail to say that as soon as the lights went out, Leo led the crowd in singing "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson, "Maps" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey. "Then he grabbed an acoustic guitar [and] played 2 songs by flashlight."
Another reader, says one of those songs was a Lungfish cover, and that after it was over, Leo "promptly fell off the stage."
"I've never seen anything like it at a show before. He literally fell off the stage, there was a huge crash, the crowd gasped because there were no lights on or anything, and then you heard the acoustic guitar strumming again. Incredible...
"At that point, everyone was asked to leave the club, so Ted took to the streets and gave an impromptu concert out in front of the Ottobar for his fans."
Now that is deacationt big time.

It Came From The Late Night Music Club From Culture City
This Week was a Very good week For live Music in and around town.
You have big Theater Shows like The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth and The Go! Team at the state and the Racountures at the Michigan Theater the Next all of this happend because there was on route or just coming back from Lollapazoza in Chicago, and it got ever major press in Chicago, Come back on Monday for all the Links, and if you did not go to chicago you can see it on a special webcast, The First Battle of the Band Semi-Final gig at the Majeic Theater Complex and ever one was listen to the last webcast of Sleater-Kinney Carred so what could spoil it this weekend.
if you were watching the reslut show of America's Got Talent on thursday Night or saw the reruns on Bravo this weekend(and thank god i put it on Mute because i was listen to Sleater-Kinney).
It Was David Hasselhoff Singing
The Star of biggest hit of the 80's (Knight Rider) and the 90's (Baywatch) Filled the last ten Mintues with his song that is fulling his big time comeback as the But of all jokes, "Jump into my car" which have been a major hit and some time a good joke in beteween he also sang it with KITT (The Car from Knight Rider) on stage, and impressing there fellow Judges Brandy and Piers Morgan.
So your just wondering how he became a singer in the first place
Well according to Wikipedia.org,Once having solidified his position as an actor, he attempted to cross over into the music industry and made his debut with the 1985 album Night Rocker while still working on the show. After two moderately successful albums, he recorded "Looking for Freedom" with German producer Jack White(oh no, Not that Jack White of the White Stripes, but a diffence Jack White) in the summer of 1989 and released it just as the Berlin Wall came down.
In Germany, his song became an anthem of sorts at the time, and the album went gold and triple platinum, topping the charts for three months whilst the single managed a mere eight weeks. He was later announced as the best selling artist of 1989 in Germany even prompting the newspaper headline "Hasselhoff: not since the Beatles." Since then another six of his albums have gone platinum in Europe.
So that why we always say he big in Germany
i would loved to show you the clip But it was shown on NBC
so i have the video of Hoff begin hoff with KITT

It Came From The Late Night Music Club From Culture City
Tonight Entry was suppot to be from a man who just 80 yesterday, Tony Bennett who share the Same birthday as the editor of this blog sight(Just turn 33 myself yesterday), But i will put it off untill late Night Saturday.
This Morning it was made public that Arthur Lee, legendary frontman for the influential psych-rock band Love, has died. He was 61 years old.
Lee was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Several recent benefit concerts, including one at New York City's Beacon Theater featuring Robert Plant, Yo La Tengo, and Ryan Adams, among others, raised money to help pay Lee's medical expenses. Lee's manager, Mark Linn, sent out the following email just minutes ago:
"Arthur Lee died peacefully at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, a little after four in the afternoon Aug 3, 2006 with his wife Diane by his side. His death comes as a shock to me because Arthur had the uncanny ability to bounce back from everything, and leukemia was no exception. He was confident that he would be back on stage by the fall.
"When I visited with him recently, he was visibly moved by the stories and pictures from the NYC benefit concert. He was truly grateful for the outpouring of love from friends and fans all over the world since news of his illness became public. We watched the DVD of the great House of Blues concert from '03, and he told me how much he appreciated [backing band] Baby Lemonade's dedication to his music.
"Arthur always lived in the moment, and said what he thought when he thought it. I'll miss his phone calls, and his long voice messages, but most of all I'll miss Arthur playing Arthur's music."
So will we.
Lee formed Love in Los Angeles in 1965 and recorded three albums with the group's original lineup, including 1968's psychedelic classic "Forever Changes," frequently voted one of the greatest albums of all time.
But the group disbanded soon after "Forever Changes" and Lee struggled to find success as a solo artist. He formed several subsequent lineups of Love over the years but never quite recaptured the magic of his early recordings, when the band was the leading light of a Los Angeles scene that included the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and the Doors.
However, Love's early material proved perennially influential, with acts from Led Zeppelin to Echo and the Bunnymen citing Lee as an inspiration.
Lee is survived by his wife, Diane

He fakes a pass! He goes for the shot! Goal! Let's hear that victory music! Wait, is that "Brand New Colony" by the Postal Service?
2K Sports has announced that of the 18 songs on NHL 2K7's soundtrack, most will be by Sub Pop artists. After all, body checks produce the same bloody noses, be they at hockey games or rowdy concerts.
"While Sub Pop and hockey are rarely mentioned in the same breath, the vibe of our music really suits the action of NHL 2K7," said Sub Pop publicity/marketing director Steve Manning in a press release. "Because 2K Sports values authenticity in its games with the same passion we treasure authenticity in our artists, we knew this partnership would resonate with fans of both the sport and our music."
NHL 2K7 and its indie soundtrack are coming to Xbox in September (a specific date has not yet been announced) and will be available for the PlayStation just in time to stuff hipster couch potatoes' stockings.

Much like John Peel himself, the Delgados are gone but not forgotten. And the members of the band are not forgetting their erstwhile fans, either, which is why they've assembled The Complete BBC Peel Sessions for an August 8 release on Transdreamer in America. (It came out on June 12 on Chemikal Underground in the UK.)
Exactly what it claims to be, The Complete BBC Peel Sessions collects every Peel Session track from the group's debut on the show in 1996 through to their last appearance in 2004 on a two-disc, 29-song set that includes covers of ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky" and the Dead Kennedys' "California Ăśber Alles" (back to back!). According to a press release, "extensive liner notes that deal with the background of the sessions, the recording of specific tracks, and the odd anecdotal aside" will also be included. They formed a band, released an enormously great debut record on two different labels, and played one of the most rousing sets at the Pitchfork Music Festival. And now with a tour and a split seven-inch with We Are Scientists, a new record in the works for an early 2007 release, and a new UK label, it's safe to say Art Brut are taking over the world at an astonishing clip.
In an interview at the festival on Saturday, Eddie Argos and guitarist Jasper Future revealed to Pitchfork that they have signed to Mute in the UK. The label has given them a deadline to have their second record "mastered and done by the middle of December," said Argos. "We don't think it's going to happen. But that's the plan." Both Argos and Future, however, were insistent that the album will be released early in 2007.
About the move, Future said, "We were just shopping and we're on so many different labels all over the world that it's like, ‘Oh we just signed to another label.' ‘Oh, great, that's nice.' And then you find out, ‘Oh, that is pretty good. That's amazing.'"
The band have "seven or eight" songs ready for the currently untitled album. Future said, "We've got the music done, and we're just waiting for Eddie to write the words. That takes a bit longer. Eddie's an artist. He needs time to think...We'll be, ‘Have you written the words?' And he'll say, ‘The best way for me to write is on this sofa with my eyes shut.'"
Argos responded, "One time, I was ‘writing' with my eyes shut, and I woke up and they had four new songs."
Among the songs on the record is "Direct Hit", which the band played in unfinished form at the festival. "That was really an unfinished song. We have Eddie bang out the lyrics on the spot," said Future. "It's hard now, though," said Argos. "We play bigger shows. So you can really embarrass yourself." "So we thought we'd embarrass ourselves at the Pitchfork Festival. No one's going to know about that," said Future.
"I have deadlines," said Argos. When asked what the deadline for "Direct Hit" was, he joked, "About forty minutes ago."
Their new album is not all Art Brut have been recording, though. NME.com recently announced that the band will release a split seven-inch single with We Are Scientists in time for their upcoming co-headlining tour of North America. The two bands will cover each other's songs on the single, with We Are Scientists reworking "Bang Bang Rock & Roll" and Art Brut taking on a nine-minute version of "The Great Escape".
In an interview with NME.com, We Are Scientists frontman Keith Murray said, "What happens during those extra six minutes of the song is anybody's guess...If Art Brut have done any harm to our precious little tune, I will slice them from nape to ‘nads." Yikes!

The late Harry Smith, renowned musicologist, filmmaker, and painter, will be soon receive the tribute treatment with a four-disc box set titled The Harry Smith Project: Anthology of American Folk Music Revisited, due October 24 on Shout! Factory.

B-sides have also been confirmed, including fan-favorite "Acquiesce" and "Half The World Away," known as the theme song to the British television show The Royale Family, as well as the song the Noel Gallagher has openly admitted to ripping off from Burt Bacharach. A man died Tuesday of injuries sustained during a Deftones performance on the Atlanta Stop of the Korn-headlined Family Values Tour.
Andy Richardson, 30, was reportedly beaten by two men on Sunday in the mosh pit at the Hi-Fi Buys Ampitheater. According to his friend, Edgar Arellano, Richardson asked two men to be cautious not to harm his pregnant girlfriend and a mentally challenged child who was there with him, Atlanta’s WSB-TV reported.
Arellano, who attended the concert with Richardson, said a fight broke out and that the men proceeded to beat Richardson.
Korn released the following statement:
“All the bands on THE FAMILY VALUES TOUR offer their sincerest condolences and prayers to the family of 30-year-old Andy Richardson. Richardson, who attended Sunday’s show at Atlanta’s Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater, was beaten by two men at the concert and subsequently was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, August 1. The incident occurred during the Deftones set, before tour headliners KORN took the stage. KORN are appalled at the actions of these men and are imploring anyone who witnessed this senseless act or has any information about the attack to please immediately come forward by contacting local authorities.”
Richardson had been listed in critical condition after the alleged assault, according to WSB-TV.

Death From Above 1979, the brash, synth-loving duo from Toronto, Canada, has announced they are splitting up after six years together. "I'm sure by now most of you assume the band isn't happening anymore since there are no shows, no work on a new album, etc," bassist Jesse Keeler wrote on the band's official site. "Well, I wanted to let you know that your assumptions are correct. We decided to stop doing the band...Actually we decided that almost a year ago." Keeler went on to reveal that he and bandmate Sebastien Grainger "had grown apart to such an extent that the only real time we spoke was just before we would play and during interviews. We both changed so much that the people we were by the end of it, probably wouldn't have been friends if they were to meet for the first time again." DFA 1979's label hoped the pair would change their minds and asked them to "keep quiet about the decision at first," Keeler wrote. They waited until their debut, You're a Woman and I'm a Machine, went gold in Canada to make the announcement.
Keeler is currently working on his other project, MSTRKRFT, with producer, Al-P. They recently released The Looks. He is also lending his bass talent to Queens of the Stone Age's upcoming album.

Thom Yorke has demanded Tony Blair resign immediately over the British government's stance on the conflict raging inIsrael.
The Radiohead star has posted a statement on the band's official website calling for the British Prime Minister to quit, as Hezbollah and the Israeli army wage war in the Middle East.
Yorke insists: "I've had enough of this. Our government sitting on the fence with the U.S. while World War 3 appears to be breaking out in Lebanon and Northern Israel. We must throw Tony Blair out of office NOW. He does not represent the views of British people. He does not represent the views of his foreign office and officials. He does not even represent the views of those in his cabinet. He cares too much about his relationship with Bush and Murdoch. This man is not fit to be our Prime Minister."

Arthur Lee, legendary frontman for the influential psych-rock band Love, has died. He was 61 years old.
As previously reported, Lee was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
So will we.

Factory.
The two-CD/two-DVD collection draws performances from Wilco, Beck, Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Beth Orton, Richard Thompson, David Johansen, Steve Earle, and more. In addition, it holds a new documentary on Smith's continuous influence on contemporary music, as well as three of his short films.
The tracks, drawn from concerts staged by Hal Willner (who also compiled and produced Revisited) at London's Royal Festival Hall (1999), Brooklyn's St. Ann's Center (1999), and Los Angeles' Royce Hall at UCLA (2001), take inspiration from Smith's six-LP Anthology of American Folk Music. The Flaming Lips
who on tour surrport there 11th Album "At War with the Mystics", The band have been around since 1983 but got notice as a strage-up rock band in 1992 with "Hit to Death in the Future Head" but got notice with the follow up a year later with Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. The album gained widespread airplay on college radio stations. “She Don’t Use Jelly” became a top ten Modern Rock hit and received frequent MTV airplay.
But they change there sound in as a experimental rock band, with ther debut of Zaireeka in 1997, a four-CD album which is intended to be heard by playing all four CDs in four separate CD players simultaneously. The music incorporated both traditional musical elements and "found" sounds (as in musique concrete), often heavily manipulated with recording studio electronics. As part of the development of this project (and occasionally as part of the subsequent tour), the band conducted a series of "boombox experiments", where an orchestra comprising up to 40 volunteers with modified "boombox"-type tape players was "conducted" - directed to vary the volume, speed or tone of the tape they were playing (all of which were made by the band) - by the band's lead member, Wayne Coyne.
in the years that folllow Waanye and Co. have follow up with album like The Soft Bulletin and the well recied Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.
There stage show defie explanation feather on stage costeme aminmails, inflaable sun, a good miltiemeaid presentaiot, and dancing Stand,
If you want to see more on the flaming lips story you got to see the wonderful film out on DVD it "Fearless Freaks" The 2005 documentary, directed by Bradley Beesley traces the band from their roots as a local psychedelic punk band to an internationally renowned band that draws celebrities to its performances. Many of the interviews were filmed in the band's hometown of Oklahoma City, although Wayne Coyne is the only band member still living there. In addition to the development of the Lips' music and performance, another theme running through the movie is the effect that drugs have had on the band and their families. A notable scene in the film depicts Steven Drozd preparing to inject himself with heroin, and it is stated that paranoia over Drozd's addiction caused guitarist Ronald Jones to leave the band. Drugs have also affected the lives of members of both Drozd's and Coyne's families.
It a must see for any one who like the band.
Tonight Video is from there Current released At War with the Mystics.
